Hulu Documentary of Legendary Cuban Musicians on Internet TV

Hulu – Search
The Buena Vista Social Club Documentary is an inspiring story of Cuban musicians, who were re-discovered many years after their heyday as top music performers in Havana.
We recommend this as a fun, uplifting film to watch. The Bueno Vista video is free on Hulu with some video ads.

The talented musicians (forgotten from the world and never promoted internationally until the documentary put them on the global map) in the Bueno Vista documentary reminds me of the hidden talent some domain investors have had over the years.

Thankfully, Ron Jackson has covered some of the top pioneers in the domain space in his archived cover stories dating back to 2003. You can read all the domain industry’s inspirational cover stories via this Dn Journal link: http://dnjournal.com/archive/coverstory-archive.htm

Perhaps some day there will be a documentary on Hulu from Ron’s excellent coverage of the Internet entrepreneurs he has interviewed, who embraced the power of domain names and capitalized on their vision with admirable success.

Greater New York Media Online Investments

Long Island, NY– Rarity means value out on Long Island and that is an understatement. How many high quality domain names are there for Greater New York Media? How many for Long Island? How many great domains are there for your niche industry?

Frank Schilling, a domain investor maverick, has a way with words in his assessment on the scarcity of meaningful, descriptive domain names that rarely hit the market in the many different verticals in business. The cream of the crop names are long gone Schilling says, and he elaborates by saying “Even if you back-up and cast as wide a net as possible, our decade of research and experience reveals perhaps 5–7 million words, numbers and phrases which ultimately have practical utility as a domain name. As you dig deeper, you begin to discover that perhaps 100 domain names or less make a meaningful website or descriptive-name for any given niche topic, with perhaps 5 or 10 being of very-good or excellent quality. When you consider the hundreds of millions of companies and individuals which want to control their own destiny and enhance the location of their website, there simply are not enough “good” names to go around.” (NAMedia)

Long Island and Greater New York media has how many category defining domain names? LongIsland.com (Website Since 1996) comes to mind first intuitively for Long Island. Amazingly, LongIsland.com is on auction Saturday January 23, 2010 at 1pm EST at the TRAFFIC Domain Conference in a competitive live domain auction held in Las Vegas: RickLatona.com. Rarely does a category geo-domain of this caliber trade in the open market. And how about the scarcity of a name for Long Island TV? LI.tv is your answer.

How many 2-letter combinations are there for any domain extension? Less than 1,400 based on a 26 letter alphabet and this clearly is evidence of the extreme rarity of a 2-letter domain. It is no wonder short 2 and 3-letter domain names have been such high selling domain assets. Growing up on the Long Island Sound we listened to LIR (Long Island Radio) while driving down the LIE (Long Island Expressway) or boating on the LI Sound so “LI” is ingrained in the minds of Long Islanders and the Tri-State Greater New York area’s population in the area of 14,000,000 (14 million). LI.tv is memorable. LI.tv is ideal for branding, co-branding or as an online video extension. LI.tv is a golden opportunity to stand above the crowd.

LI.tv is available for purchase or joint venture.

    Top 100 Great Inventions

One Hundred Great Things – TIME
While reading about the Reddi-Wip inventor-Aaron S. “Bunny” Lapin, who recently died, I stumbled upon this great old 1998 Time Magazine 5-page article about some of the best inventions in the 1900’s. This list of 100 great inventions puts the speed of technology into perspective. Just think back to the early 90’s-remember Prodigy’s online service? More importantly, imagine if you will for a moment, the mid-90s when domain names emerged as the Internet came alive compared to where we are now in the infancy stages of domaining, e-commerce, online video, mobile Web and new social media. The next big thing?

    Pay Internet TV

Bewkes Pushes TV Everywhere — As Long As You Pay for It – Advertising Age – MediaWorks NEW YORK (AdAge.com) — Time Warner’s CEO- Jeff Bewkes hopes to put more TV on the internet, but he’s going to make consumers prove they’ve paid for it.
Time Warner, the largest owner of cable networks including TNT, Cartoon Network, CNN and HBO, sat back and watched as broadcasters such as ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox tried to sort out the distribution of TV on the web. But now Mr. Bewkes, Time Warner CEO, has a plan to put all cable programming on the web in places such as Hulu, MySpace, Yahoo TV, or even YouTube. Of course, there’s a catch. To get it you’ll have to prove you subscribe to pay TV through cable, satellite, or telco. – AdAge.com
